Had a really amazing experience with a waitress named Jakkie. We visited another establishment and the food was so bad then coming to barrels and blues complete 360 we didn’t wait too long for service or food and the food was really amazing everyone really welcoming just a full 10/10 experience

Wow. What a steak. Perfectly medium rare. Awesome wedges. And the onion rings... pepper sauce was out of this world. Thanks Gerry for personally recommending it. Swellendam has a steakhouse that will rival any in S.A. 10 out of 10. Atmosphere was awesome. Sitting on the verandah watching the world go by and enjoying a cold beer on a hot evening. Friendly folk all around. Here and there hearing a foreign language. The murals on the wall depicting music legends. Loved it. And all this at an extremely affordable price. Winning combination.

We contacted the owner Jerry prior to arrival and he said it was the best pub in Swellendam and he was spot on!! The food was brilliant and the outside wood burners were just what we needed, for the time of year! It was good to find a place with such a nice atmosphere, which really rejuvenated us after a long days driving. We had a bit of a taxi issue at the end of the night, but it was not a problem as Jerry came to our rescue and arranged for a member of staff to get us home safely. This was beyond the call of duty as we found the gates locked at The Old Mill Inn where we were staying. The driver was brilliant helping us get in safely, before leaving us. Highly recommended the Blues and Barrel and will spread the word back home. Thanks again Jerry and Team for a great night - will definitely see you again!!

We ate here two nights running as very little else was open.The food was very good value and the portions were very large.We had the pizzas and burgers both of which were good fayre. The outside tables were fine despite one or two smokers and the draught beer very good.The service was excellent and the music not too loud.A very enjoyable experience.
